Getting close!

Things are starting to come together and we are at the point where we can really see how things are shaping up.

As preparation for the landscaping to go in, the Stanley's have chosen to lay an innovative form of weedblock and mulch - recycled carpet and crushed peanut shells!

Interior and exterior flooring has been composed of stained concrete with score lines for detail

The countertops in the kitchen have also been made of concrete (formed here).

The cupola has windows on all sides, some of which are operable to allow for cooling and fresh air

The back porch will also include a summer kitchen

Stayed tuned for more progress updates and to find out when we will be having the final reception!

Third Tour - Another fabulous success!

We held our third home tour this last Saturday, August 28th. Again, we had about 15-20 guests in attendance along with our homeowners, Dave and Laurie, and Ivan our GC. In this tour Ivan went over the completed mechanical, electric, plumbing, security and insulation, as well as finished siding, the copula painted and the roof started. One of the highlights (pictured below) was the water filtration system for the rainwater cachement. Although county codes require well water for potable use (at this time), we can’t help but wonder if the filtered rainwater will be cleaner than the well water…

Our fourth (and last) tour will be Saturday, October 9th. At that time you may catch Laurie moving boxes in so step carefully!

Second Home Tour Pics!

As with the first tour, our second tour on July 17th was a great success! Ivan (GC) and Jennifer (Architect) were on hand to walk us through the latest developments and to talk about what’s to come. Some of the items they covered included: the finished framing and SIP’s panels, passive cooling coupled with a high-efficiency mechanical system, structured plumbing utilizing rainwater harvesting, and alternative energy options.

Below are pics from the tour. Be sure to keep checking back, our next tour will be August 28th!
